
Today, July 21, Mr. Sergiu Guțu, local representative of KfW, accompanied by Mr. Iurie Chiorescu, the Director of the IP “Moldova Social Investment Fund”, visited 4 sites renovated for KfW funds. The final evaluation of subprojects implemented within the “Social infrastructure and energy efficiency” Program, Phase II, worth 2 million Euros financed by the German Development Bank KfW was the scope of the visit:
- "Paving pedestrian paths in the central park" in Nisporeni town.
- "Paving pedestrian access sidewalks" in Bărboieni village, Nisporeni rayon
- "Civil works at the sports complex" in Iurceni village, Nisporeni rayon
- “Construction of parts of street lighting” in Țipala village, Ialoveni rayon
Mayors of localities and members of Implementation Agencies took part in discussions on behalf of beneficiaries.
In the specific situation caused by the COVID19 pandemic, the KfW delegation, composed of Mrs Anna Christina Schirmer, Senior Project Manager, Urban and Regional Development Eastern Europe, Caucasus, Central Asia, KfW Frankfurt, and Mr. Michael Pucher, Senior Engineer, Urban and Regional Development Eastern Europe, Caucasus, Central Asia, KfW Frankfurt, participated in meetings with beneficiaries by video conference.
Aspects related to the quality of civil works carried out by contractors, and the observance of the Environmental Management framework have been discussed during field visits. Also, beneficiaries of the Project, participants in the discussion, mentioned the large impact on their community of implemented projects, benefits and perspectives of the project development in order to ensure the sustainability of obtained results. In this sense, local public authorities presented the concrete plan of activities in order to ensure the sustainability of renovated sites, being renovated for financial resources allocated from the local budget.
Infrastructure modernization projects remain one of the main priorities of the Government of the Republic of Moldova and its development partners. Thus, within the German Financial Cooperation with the Republic of Moldova, the PI “Moldova Social Investment Fund” and the German Development Bank KFW in the period from 2005 through 2020 managed the grant worth 11.65 million euros, provided to the Republic of Moldova by to the Ministry of Development and Economic Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Germany.
