Today, on November 18, 2015, Romanian Ambassador to Moldova, Marius Lazurca, the Executive Manager of the Moldova Social Investment Fund, Mircea Eşanu, attended the presentation of the report on the utilization of the 20 million euros grant provided by the Romanian Government for the reconstruction and renovation of preschool institutions in Moldova. The event was attended by representatives of local public authorities and directors of beneficiary kindergartens.

Marius Lazurca, Romanian Ambassador to Moldova: "We are very pleased with the way MSIF operates with Romanian taxpayers’ money. Renovated kindergartens that we visited proved to me that the Fund has performed well, the money were used efficiently and with full responsibly. Thus, we could transmit to the Romanian Government and taxpayers that this Project deserves to be continued. We expect that dedicated funds will be entirely used in 2016, so we can move on to the next stage, where more and more kindergartens will be renovated for Romanian funds".

According to the report, during the period of August 2014 - November 2015 from the grant of 20 million euros provided by the Romanian Government through MSIF, 774 kindergartens have been renovated in the Republic of Moldova. Currently, the works have been completed in over 660 kindergartens.

Mircea Eşanu, the Executive Manager of the Moldova Social Investment Fund: "Every second kindergarten has been renovated in our country for money from the generous grant, allocated by the Romanian Government. So far, about 85% of preschool institutions has been renovated and equipped with new furniture. These results are merits of local authorities, and the administration of kindergartens as well, who showed great persistence and perseverance. A good condition in kindergartens ensures kids training and provides confidence to parents that their little ones are in good hands."

At the event the album "For a beautiful childhood” has been presented " which was dedicated to the Assistance Programme of the Romanian Government. The album is bilingual, with texts in Romanian and English languages, and will be distributed in primarias, rayon councils, kindergartens and other public institutions in the Republic of Moldova.

More than 200 thousand people, children, parents, teachers and support staff are direct beneficiaries of  "The technical and financial assistance program”, granted by the Romanian Government for preschool institutions in Moldova". The number of children attending renovated kindergartens the exceeds 72 thousand.

Works financed under the grant provided by the Romanian Government include capital repairs of buildings, the replacement of the roof, heating systems, electrical networks, playlots arrangement, the replacement of  windows and doors, external walls insulation, the construction of water supply and sewer systems of kindergartens, sanitary facilities, procurement of the equipment, furniture.

Moldova Social Investment Fund (MSIF) is an institution created by the World Bank and donor countries in order to contribute to the development of the Republic of Moldova by managing the external assistance.
