
--------- On March 2 - 3, managers of the Public Institution "Moldova Social Investment Fund" with representatives of the World Bank’s mission in the Republic of Moldova and representatives of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research participated in the online monitoring meeting on activities carried out during the implemention of subprojects within the Component A.2 of the "Moldova Education Reform" Project (MERP).
The subject of the discussion focused on the construction progress in schools under the renovation financed by MERP, in particular, the situation at each of five sites, which are in the process of renovation. In this context, participants in the meeting expressed their opinions on challenges that appear in the current conditions, affected by the pandemic of the COVID-19 virus, prospects of the completion of repair works and the expected results. Also, aspects regarding procurement and financial management were discussed.
Another aspect approached during the discussion referred to the monitoring of the Environmental Management Plan implementation within the renovation process of educational institutions carried out by the PI MSIF within the Project.
Note:
The "Moldova Education Reform" Project is a specific investment loan, granted by the World Bank, implemented between April 2013 - April 2022, which supports the Government of the Republic of Moldova by financing activities that will strengthen the quality of education and lead to a more efficient education sector.
In total, 17 district educational institutions will be renovated within the A.2 Component of the "Moldova Education Reform" Project financed by the World Bank and managed by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research, through the PI "Moldova Social Investment Fund". At the moment 12 sites have passed commissioning, and 5 are under renovation.
