
The MSIF manages the "Social Infrastructure and Energy Efficiency" Project based on a grant worth 5 million euros provided by KfW (German state bank "Kreditanstalt fur Wiederaufbau").
The Project involves implementation of certain investments in the social infrastructure of settlements in the Republic of Moldova (aqueducts and sewage systems, schools, kindergartens, roads, etc.) with emphasis on energy efficiency and the use of alternative energy sources.
The project aims to improve and ensure the sustainability of public services in the target region of the Project (10 rayons in the North of RM and post-conflict regions in Transnistria) with the scope to improve the living conditions of population and environmental status of these areas and to ensure the efficient local governance.
In total, 89 subprojects, listed below, received funding from the grant provided by KfW:
1. Renovation works in schools and kindergartens - 57
2. Refurbishment work of water supply systems – 13
3. The repairing of roads – 11
4. The repairing of hospitals – 3
5. The renovation of of street lighting – 3
6. The renovation and arrangement of community center for young people - 1.
7. The renovation and arrangement of community center for old people - 1.
Within the framework of subprojects implemented by the MSIF for the grant provided by KfW various elements of energy efficiency (heating pumps, biomass boilers, solar panels for water heating) have been used.
About 2178 temporary jobs lasting 2-8 months were created during the period when works have been carried out.
Over 62,500 people have benefited from improved access to the infrastructure and quality services, while ensuring the sustainability of works carried out in accordance with the action plan developed in advance.
